Natural Healing for RA – Addressing “Leaky Gut”

Posted: March 31, 2011 in Natural Healing for RA

Until now, I’d never heard of addressing “leaky gut” to help alleviate rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. According to Dr. Barker, MD, who specializes in natural healing methods, we can fight RA using the food we eat instead of medication. I myself tried the “pain free diet” a few years back and found that not only did I lose weight, but I also increased my energy levels and eliminated a lot of pain and swelling all while eating fish and veggies. YUM!

This video which features Dr. Barker has inspired me to try this diet out again. No more red meat or dairy for the next month. It’s going to be tough, but if it makes me feel better, why wouldn’t I give it a go? I’ll report back with updates over the next few weeks. Stay tuned.

I’ve been gluten free for a year now and I’m about to embark on the specific carbohydrate diet. I just read the book and have been reading some blogs. It heals the gut…..such as leaky gut, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s, helps “IBS”. Since going G-free I hardly have any joint problems, but I still have inflammation in my gut. I’ll have to check out the diet plan you are considering. It may be similar to the SCD diet. I’m sure many people with RA have leaky guts and don’t know it… it’s good to get the info out there :)

Can I ask which book you read? I am having a really hard time sticking to this regimine. You must really have some will power Leslie! Congrats to you for being your own healer! I really envy that trait. I hope your diet continues to be successful in providing you with joint pain relief.

Looking forward to reading about your results. I too have followed a gluten/dairy free diet for about seven years. I definitely believe in it!

      Dear Cindy,
Maybe you can send me some tips! I have to admit that I was a complete failure at eliminating red meat and dairy from my diet this time around. I am obsessed with both of those foods! Any ideas to keep my head faced in the right direction?
